12 oz bottle, poured into a goblet at 40 degrees F and allowed to warm to ambient during consumption.
L: Pours opaque inky black (because stout), and forms a thin off-white head that vanishes very swiftly.
S: Heavy caramel, vanilla, and oak presence in the nose, with cream and chocolate beneath. There's no mistaking that this is a barrel-aged beer. Oddly, there also seems to be a touch of cinnamon at times in the aroma.
T: Again, unmistakably barreled. Those notes crash in right up front and remain prominent through to the swallow, all oaky wood, caramel, vanilla, and ash. Floating beneath the barrel sheen come the chocolate and lactose-cream, giving the beer a sweetness that rounds and softens the edges of the barrel character. There is no bitterness to this beer - it drinks like a sticky bun doused in bourbon, chocolate, and creamy icing.
F: Thick, full, and syrupy, as one wants from a stout.
O: I find this delightful, personally, but I am a fan of sweet and malt over bitter and hoppy - and I am also a vacationer along the Bourbon Trail. Bear that in mind if your tastes differ.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2020 vintage from the recent release earlier this month. Thanks again to my friend Denis for this brew! Served in a Warped Wing snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. Aroma is nice, bourbon and vanilla stand out, with there also being some fudge, cream and bready malt noticeable. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some roasted malt, caramel, oak and molasses flavors. As with the aroma, the bourbon and vanilla flavors stand out. Good amount of barrel character. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. Well, I liked this brew a lot more than I did the base version. If you're into bourbon barrel aged stouts then you should look out for this one!
