Dayton lore has it that the Flying Heads were legendary undead monsters from the Iroquois and Wyandot Indian Tribes. The winged heads appeared huge and disembodied with fiery eyes and an empty, soulless expression. They flew through the air, pursuing humans to chase and devour. Now it’s time to turn the table. Flying Heads Dubbel Pumpkin Ale is aged in Port barrels. It pours a ruby red with brown highlights. Experience fall flavors of cinnamon, coriander, allspice, and pumpkin. Devour yours today.

375 ml bottle, 2020 vintage. Served in a Warped Wing snifter, the beer pours a somewhat hazy reddish/brown color with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The brew smells like port, dark berries, oak, cinnamon and allspice. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some raisin, plum and coriander flavors noticeable too. I think the port barrel character stands out in both the aroma and taste, it's a lot more port than pumpkin to me. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's coating, smooth and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was good, certainly worth trying especially if you're into port barrel aged beers!
