From the 375 ml wax capped bottle in a snifter via Bluejacket74---Dude..WOW!
This monster pours a dark brownish black with thin tea highlights and a
faint head of off white foam that sizzles to a thin ring and light dusty layer that
shows faint lacing. Nose of anise, bourbon, dark wine cask, leather, tobacco,
dark cocoa, dark fruit, vinous notes, and astringent booze. Flavors follow the
nose and lightly exceed the dark cocoa, dank cask, bourbon, rum, brandy, leather,
tobacco, faint vanilla, light char, dark fruits of black, blue, and raspberry, and
faint pepper notes. Nice mouthfeel in an English old ale style---full body,
low to faint carbonation, smooth, coating, rich, warming, and finishing
medium dry like a fine brandy.
This is exceptional---like an aged old al, reminiscent of plum pudding,
brandy, and a chocolate covered bourbon adult candy piece!
Excellence!
Cheers

375 ml red wax capped bottle, 2020 vintage, purchased at the brewery about a week and a half ago. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like vanilla, bourbon, roasted malt, dark fruit, molasses, coffee and chocolate. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some dark bread and burnt/charred malt flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. Easy enough to drink. I liked this a lot, it's a good Whiskey Rebellion variation and worth trying if you get the chance to!
