Bold. Bourbon. Chocolate. Vanilla.
In the late 1700’s a government imposed whiskey tax crippled the emerging bourbon trade. A thirsty few rose up and spawned a revolution. Finally, government control ended. And a truce was penned. At last, liberating the free flow of bourbon once again. Whiskey Rebellion. A Russian Imperial Stout aged in reclaimed bourbon barrels. Marked with accents of espresso, chocolate, and vanilla. Stand your ground.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2021 vintage. Served in a Warped Wing snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with not quite an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both decent. I like the aroma, the brew smells like dark chocolate, espresso, bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt and caramel. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of burnt/charred malt, fudge, dark bread and earthy flavors. To me the dark chocolate stands out, but doesn't overpower the other flavors either. Barrel character is noticeable but not strong either. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and a bit rich with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. Overall I thought this was a good brew, definitely worth trying if you get the chance!

From the 12.7 oz bottle in a snifter via the brewery. Pours a dark brownish black
with dark tea highlights and a thin ring of off white foam that settles to a thin ring
with faint lacing. Nose of bourbon, soaked oak, brown sugar, vanilla, and faint
coffee. Flavors lightly exceed the nose with bourbon, vanilla, faint coffee, soaked
woodsy oak, brown sugars, leather, and light tobacco amidst some subtle dark fruits.
Nice mouth feel; medium full to verging on full body, smooth, rich, moderately coating,
warming, low carbonation, and a moderately dry finish.
Overall-a solid brew but not on par with the others in the series.
Cheers
