16oz on tap served in a tall pilsner glass at the original Dayton taproom location.
Appearance: Dark brown, a bit hazy when held up to the light. Good lacing with a persistent thin tan head.
Smell: Bit of chocolate and some toasted malt.
Taste: Surprisingly sweet for this style. Definite chocolate note, along with toasted malts and caramelized sweetness. Mild bitter note with a bit of noble hop character to it, but muted.
Mouthfeel: Light carbonation, good thickness, but more ale-like than lager like.
Overall / Drinkability: I did enjoy this beer, but I don't feel it's a Czech dark lager. It's more of a brown ale. Good, but not really hitting the style well. I could have had another one though without issue. Had with food. A good brown ale, but not a Czech lager.
