Brickway Blackout Stout Barrel Aged, 17% ABV, 70 IBU. Aptly named. Pours black with a slight tan head. Nose is bourbon and brown sugar. Taste follows, quite sweet, bourbon burn, not much bitterness. Excellent mouthfeel, though fairly light carbonation. Overall outstanding.

Had on tap. Midnight on the winter solstice black with a mocha foam collar. Decent oak from the barrel up front in the nose, with syrupy chocolate, whiskey, dark fruit, brown sugar and earth. Oak and booze shape the sweet base stout with chocolate syrup, toffee, earth, molasses, dark fruit, and brown sugar. This one is boozy in the feel, slight burn here and there, but not as much as one would suspect for 17% abv, very thick, syrupy heavy and chewy.

Abyss black. Fingernail of beige head.

Pure roasted barley on the nose with hints of hot fudge and Hershey chocolate, and subtle barrel.

Flavor is initially of wood and metal with some tobacco, but the real explosion comes once it's off your tongue. Hot alcohol wells up to the clavicle and light fudge, wood, and cocoa nibs remain soaking.

Huge palate busting roasted resins. Syrupy, slightly dry alcohol. Hot.

Overall impressive but not as good as I was expecting.
