Poured from a 16.9 oz bottle into a stemmed tulip glass.
Pours a cloudy straw color with a half finger if bright white head. The head leaves a few splotches if lace before settling into a halo around the top of the beer.
The aroma brings notes of lemon zest, green apple, yeast, and subtle hops.
The flavor brings lots of yeast and slight funk, as well as some subtle vanilla and oak. There's a wave of tart lemon and green apples before a finish of very subtle, bitter hops.
The feel is light bodied with very good carbonation. Crisp and drinkable with a light tartness on the finish.
Overall, a great barrel-aged saison that doesn't overpower your palate with oak and vanilla, yet remains subtly tart and funky throughout. Exceptionally drinkable. Hope to see more beers like this in the future from "The Cryptic" project.
