We've Blended the incredible flavours that the unique landscapes of Norway and New Zealand offer. Norway's Kveik brings subtle tropical fruit flavour to this beer. When combined with New Zealand's fruit-forward Nelson Sauvin & Motueka hops this pale ale is anything but boring.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. My second beer from the Cobden, Ontario brewery, and first for 2025.

A solid entry from Whitewater who are often, well, just good)… this Nordic Pale Ale stands out with a nice balance from the New Zealand hops and perhaps for purist may be a bit to neutral, but packs great flavour for 4.6% hazy burnt yellow and good weight.

473 mL can from the LCBO; the date is smudged, but I can make out the "July" part. Served slightly chilled.

Pours a hazy golden colour, generating more than an inch of soapy, foamy white head that falls back within three or four minutes' time. It leaves behind a meandering ring of spidery lace, as well as a creamy collar and thin cap - looks good so far. Subtle fruit aromas on the nose: I'm getting lemon, lime and white wine, with maybe a hint of mango.

The profile is very fruity, a little sweet, and not very bitter. Almost a little tart at first, with juicy flavours of apple, grape and mango giving way to hints of lemon and dry white wine towards the back end. The malt backdrop is muted, offering up suggestions of wheatiness and oatmeal, but it's the hops and yeast that steal the show here. Citrus pith and tropical fruits fade into the aftertaste, which is mildly juicy before it dries out. Light-medium in body, with moderate carbonation that adds some bite to this brew's fluffy, soft texture - pleasing to sip and extremely quaffable. I think I could drink this all night.

If it's this good after four months, I'd love to try a fresh can - stay tuned...

[Updated Dec 22 2022]

Another tall can, dated Oct 13 2022 - so it's a little fresher than last time, but I'm not noticing enough of a difference to consider mucking with its grade. Whitewater's North Meets South is a fine session ale that I must encourage all Ontario BAs to seek out and try. It's not the sort of beer that will necessarily blow you away, but it's just *so* easy to toss back, and I still prefer this over most of the other kveik pale ales I've tried thus far.

Final Grade: 3.87, a B+

Pours a light hazy gold colour, with about a one inch head. Hoppy with a bit of citrus on the smell. Bitter with hints of lemon and/or pineapple. Dry aftertaste and mouthfeel

Review from notes. LCBO purchase for $3.50 or so.

Appearance - Moderate white head caps a yellowy gold brew. Some haziness.

Smell - Light tropical notes with a little mango and melon mixed in with the grapefruit. Not a strong aroma, but good depth.

Taste - Pretty flavorful for a lower ABV brew. Tropical flavors of grapefruit and mango meld nicely over the malty backbone. Good depth of flavor if not particularly intense.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, but at the lighter end, good fizzy qualities, semi-juicy finish.

Overall - One of the better pale ales I've had in recent times. Rather enjoyed this. Well worth the purchase.

I bought a can at the LCBO in Ontario Canada 473ml at 4.6% IBU is 20.
Poured into glass with a 1 to 2 finger head.
Nice aroma and we'll balanced fruit flavors easy to drink.
Overall an ok Nordic pale ale.
Cheers
