473 mL can from the LCBO, the last of six new beers in their Après-Adventure mixed pack. Dated Oct 1 2022 and served slightly chilled.

This beer pours a deep mahogany brown colour; holding it to a bright light reveals a number of other traits, including its brilliant clarity and crimson red highlights, as well as the presence of countless flecks of fine sediment. One finger of loose, soapy, light tan-coloured head falls off within two minutes, reduced to a bubbly collar and filmy cap. The cacao nibs add a rich, chocolatey lean to its boilerplate porter aroma - caramelized malts, toasted grains, hints of dark chocolate.

There's not necessarily a lot of variety here, but there's no shortage of chocolate flavour: I'm getting cacao nibs and chocolate syrup, supported by roasted grains and caramelized sugars. This sweet forefront is countered by dark chocolate and faint coffee bitterness on the back end, with hints of earthy hops; the cacao takes over again in the aftertaste, lingering on the taste buds. Medium in body, with moderate carbonation that adds a gentle bite to this brew's silky-smooth mouthfeel. Good drinkability for a chocolate beer, but two cans in a row would be a bit much for me.

Final Grade: 3.82, a B+. You might call Après-Toboggan a one-note beer, but Whitewater promised chocolate, and man does it ever deliver on that front. Naturally, this results in a richer-tasting, somewhat sweeter than average porter, but it maintains some semblance of balance thanks to the dark chocolate and earthy hop bitterness at the finish. I think fans of Young's Double Chocolate Stout would really dig this, but any BA interested in a chocolate-focused, non-imperial brew should give 'er a go.
