473 mL can from the LCBO, one of six new beers in their Après-Adventure mixed pack. Dated Sep 28 2022 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a cloudy, translucent pale yellow colour, producing half a finger of frothy white head that sizzles off within sixty seconds or so. A tight collar is the only remnant of note, though there is some lace deposition after a few sips. Apple cinnamon oatmeal on the nose, with wheat and very faint lactic notes; I'm also getting a touch of something like bubble gum or banana candy.
It's a decent spiced-up apple sour: tangy and sweet at the forefront, with apple cider and sweet red apple flesh soon joined by a mild cinnamon spiciness. Apple sauce, wheat and bubble gum near the middle, with a flash of sour lemon and lactic acidity at the finish; weak lacto-funkiness dissipates into a tart, tangy-sweet apple aftertaste that lingers. Light in body, with aggressive carbonation that remains prickly right down to the last couple of sips; feels crisp, but also a little watery. Easy enough to drink, but it's not my jam.
Final Grade: 3.55, a B grade. I liked Après-Snowmobile more than I thought I would, but that isn't saying much because the idea of an apple cinnamon sour was somewhat unappealing to begin with. The apple flavours come through well, and the cinnamon/spice is not overused, that second point being a big plus in my books. While it's one of the weaker links in this Whitewater mixed pack, and not a beer I'd look for again, it's still worth a try if you have an affinity for sour apples.
