473 mL can from the LCBO, one of several new light beers included in Whitewater's Adventure Collection mixed pack. Dated May 4 2023 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a relatively clear & effervescent golden-yellow colour, producing two fingers of fluffy, foamy white head that dissipates within five minutes' time. A half-inch coat of thick lace adheres to the glass, with a generous collar and creamy cap living on - looks great so far. Guava and orange juice on the nose, with hints of cereal grains, passion fruit and pineapple: not a lot of "beer-like" aroma here, but the fruitiness is pleasant and seems authentic.
It tastes ok - none of the fruit ingredients really 'pop' for me, but I suppose passion fruit is the most noticeable, with the orange showing up mid-sip, and the guava coming through in the aftertaste. Beyond that, the flavour profile is a little grainy, with hints of corny cereal sidelined by a tropical fruitiness that lingers into the aftertaste. Light-medium in body - there's a little more substance than your average light lager here, with moderate carbonation and a fluffy, smooth mouthfeel that I liked.
Final Grade: 3.63, a B grade. Into The Woods is visually stunning and surprisingly fragrant for a light beer, with a spritzy mouthfeel that suits it well. Its flavours are inoffensive, blending into a vaguely citrusy/tropical mish-mash that comes off as a tad diluted. I doubt I'd ever buy this beer again, but if you enjoy light beers and tropical fruit then give 'er a go.
