Canada's sneakiest season. Buckle up; we're in for more snow. But while this unseasonably warm weather is here, soak up the sun and enjoy Nelson & Citra hops in this cheery, juicy session IPA. 15 IBU

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Oct 10 2023 and served barely chilled. One of six brews in Whitewater's winter mixed pack.
Pours a relatively clear golden-yellow hue, its complexion marred with flocculent sediment that settles out within a few minutes. It's crowned with more than two fingers of puffy, soapy, billowing white head that falls apart over the next five minutes, give or take - some spotty lace is scattered about in the process, with a generous collar and patchy cap living on. Looks great, but the aroma is underwhelming - muddled and vaguely fruity, with suggestions of cantaloupe, gooseberry and earthy hops, as well as some wheaty malts.
It's not great, but it's not bad, either - flavours of melon rind and dry white wine at the forefront, backed by flaked oat sweetness. Mildly earthy, piney finish with some bitterness; the aftertaste is bone dry. Light-ish in body, with moderately lively carbonation that feels frothy and slightly prickly on the tongue; smooth, fluffy mouthfeel that aids this brew's drinkability - it really is a pleasure to sip.
Final Grade: 3.57, a B grade. Whitewater's False Spring is a decent-to-good session ale, but there are soooo many other Ontario session IPAs that fit that description equally well. In other words, it's competently brewed, but does nothing new - honestly, if thus were being sold as a single, you wouldn't be missing much by taking a pass. I enjoyed my glass, but I doubt I'll get a hankering for another.
