At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From their Adventure Collection at my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Date stamp illegible. My 8th beer from the Cobden, Ontario brewery, and 1st for 2026. With Gracie the cat...

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Whitewater's winter mixed pack. Dated Oct 10 2023 and served barely chilled.
Pours a relatively clear copper-brown colour with brick red highlights, generating at least two fingers of foamy, light beige-tinted head that lasts for the better part of five minutes. A messy swath of arcing lace sticks to the glass, with a thin collar and sudsy cap floating upon the surface - looks great at a glance. Malty, brown ale-esque aroma of toasted nuts, grains and bread, with fainter suggestions of burnt grain, cocoa and caramelized malts.
A rather nice mild with a balanced flavour profile. Toasted grains, bread and a touch of toasted nuttiness come through at first, with caramelized sweetness giving way to cocoa powder by mid-sip. A little roasty on the back end, with leafy, herbal hop bitterness and faint cocoa dissipating into a dry aftertaste. A more-ish mild: each sip makes you crave the next. Light in body, with gentle carbonation that brushes across the palate, gently agitating the tongue; feels smooth and pretty satisfying for such a light ale.
Final Grade: 3.84, a B+. Whitewater's Sled Club is an above average example of one of the most overlooked styles in craft brewing today. This was a random sampler pack inclusion, so I have no reason to believe that it'll be available as a single any time soon - still, I'd be buying this regularly during the winter months, given the opportunity. Sadly, I suspect I'm in the minority: the reason there aren't very many milds to choose from is most likely a lack of demand, so I suppose I should just be grateful for the few good ones that I *do* get to try. Like this one - cheers!
