473 mL nitro-can from the LCBO; no canning date and served barely chilled. One of six brews in Whitewater's 2025 Winter Adventure Pack.

I shook the can as instructed and ended up with a glass that was 80% foam - no cascade, but it fell back to a much more manageable two-finger head within a few minutes. Outstanding lace deposition; a half-inch collar of thick foam lives on, surrounding an elevated, mesa-like cap that lasts for another five-plus minutes. This glass is a thing of beauty to behold. The aroma, on the other hand, is muted and relatively plain - doughy malts, leafy hops, powdered sugar and crumpets come to mind.

This is a very mellow and approachable mild pale ale with straightforward flavours. I'm getting bready, doughy malts and a light toffee sweetness, with hints of apples and leafy hops on the back end. Light tea-leafy bitterness lingers and then fades into a weakly malty aftertaste that trends off-dry. Light in body, with the typical creamy, silky-smooth mouthfeel that you'd expect from a nitro brew. Ridiculously easy to slog back.

Final Grade: 3.6, an adequate B grade. On one hand, you could easily argue that Whitewater's Last One Down is a very boring beer, and you wouldn't necessarily be wrong - the flavour profile is not at all complex. The flip side of that argument is that nitro pub ales aren't really expected to be complex; just sessionable - and it certainly checks that box, because I could easily drink several of these in a row. I dunno... I mostly like it, but if this were available as a single, I doubt it would become a frequent purchase. Recommended to fans of Boddington's, Tetley's, and similar light, pale, nitro-charged English ales.
