473 mL can from the LCBO; no canning date and served barely chilled. One of six brews in Whitewater's 2025 Winter Adventure Pack.

Pours golden-amber in hue and relatively clear in complexion, though there is some very fine sediment hovering throughout its body. Two fingers of soapy, foamy white head seeps away within three or four minutes, coating the glass with a messy, serpentine ring of lace as it recedes; a frothy collar and patchy cap live on. Earthy and woodsy on the nose, with notes of spicy rye malt, bready malts, berries, pine and toasted grains.

It's pretty tasty - I'm getting some light caramelized sweetness, along with toasted grains, spicy rye, bready malts and earthy, piney hops; the latter gain some steam late in the sip, joined by a bitter grapefruit pithiness. Earthy finish, with spicy rye and a touch of ethanol warmth reverberating into a slightly bitter aftertaste. Medium in body, with restrained carbonation that adds some low level prickliness to this brew's smooth, soft mouthfeel. Reasonable drinkability for 7%, but one can per night seems sufficient.

Final Grade: 3.94, a B+. White Knuckle is a solid rye beer, but I'm not enamored with the hop profile. I think I preferred their last rye beer (Après-Ice Fish, which was in the 2022 winter mixed pack), but the differences aren't exactly stark, and this is still a pretty solid rye-PA in its own right. It does, however, seem to be missing something - maybe more of a citrusy kick from the hops would kick it up a notch? Either way, it's one of the better selections in this mixed pack.
