(12 oz pour in an upside-down diamond shaped glass at the brewery a couple hours ago... reviewed from memory)
touted as a saison aged in French oak barrels, the first sip was a sour blast of acetone... kind of a dark rosee-colored liquid with a slight haze and silky foam cap... after that inital sour hit up front first sip, a surprisingly vivid oaky note swelled up late in the finish... sip over sip, the acetone toned down and oak/barrel flavors tamed, and some of the graininess of the malt opened up, filled in the foundation; surprisingly no nutty yeast note... it did take on more (rosee) wine flavors as it went... not acidic enough to tingle the teeth... at any rate, it was bold and flavorful; I was eyeing up a six-pack of it...
