Here at Pajama Dave’s in Fernandina Beach once again, as this is my first beer of the night. Love a good Oatmeal Stout and this was a decent take on the style that has plenty of coffee and some espresso in it, along with plenty of body.
No surprise that this was dark and looked like something brewed at Starbucks as there wasn’t any head to be seen. Ditto for the lacing as that was brew’s only drawback. Loads of coffee, espresso, and cacao, along with cocoa powder and malt. Chewy and filling, this was slick up front with a slightly dry finish that wasn’t smoky or leaving me needing a chaser of water.
Hard to detect any alcohol in this as it would be easy to quaff a few of these in a sitting. Didn’t taste oatmeal in this but it was there in body as there was plenty to proverbially and physically chew on here. A bit like a Porter, this is a Stout that also serves as a session beer. Not a bad first impression from Veterans United as it needed a bit more flavor and chocolate for me to rate higher. This was a perfect take on the style for this neck of the woods!

Cup o Joe Is an interesting brew, I Live close to the brewery so its usually a waiting game for when they tap a keg of it as it is not a constantly available brew. but that being said; The look of the beer is dark, only through the thinnest of glasses are you going to be able to see through it, whereas taste is very coffee heavy, smoky after taste, for a stout it is fairly light on the tongue and even after full crowler of it, it was still flavorful and with the warming of the glass and time out fridge the flavors express so much better.
Definitely pour a pint of this and let it sit 5-10 minutes before drinking, the flavors pop so much more off the beer if you do.

Reviewed from notes. Had on-tap at J.P. Henley's in St. Augustine (before they closed, obviously). Served in an unmarked pint glass.
A: Very dark brown and nearly opaque. Low visible carbonation and a thin white head.
S: Dark roasted coffee, some bitterness from the roast, and a rich toasted malt backbone.
T: Dark coffee, bits of bitter cacao, brown malt nutty sweetness, and some malt sweetness to balance the beer. Not much flavor from the oatmeal (but it does add a little to the body). Finishes with more dark roast coffee flavor.
M: Fairly light-bodied, but given the relatively low ABV (I recorded 4.7%), it has a good heft. Very low alcohol presence. Carbonation sensation on the low side.
O: Nothing mind-blowing or exceptional for sure. But a solid beer, and an easy to drink dark beer with nice roasty character. A session stout, perhaps.

Served too cold where I got it. Expected more of a coffee taste for one called "cup 'o joe"
