A malt bomb IPA with big caramel notes offset by a strong fruit and pine given off from the Columbus, Chinook, Centinnial, and Cascade hops. The only question... Why the third sock?

Light pine hops in the taste but super malty; actually reminds me more of a barleywine.

At the brewery again whilst my son has hockey practice. This beer poured a hazy orangish with thin white head that is leaving a lace. The scent is ripe tangerine like fruit and maybe some spice. The taste is bitter leaning with citrus tones and alcohol. The Mouthfeel is fuller in body with smooth carbonation. Overall this is a good beer and worth a try.

Whoa! An excellent DIPA! Poured into a snifter from the 22 oz bottle, this FINE ale pours a nice bright glowing deep amber with a moderate head of white foam that settles to a thick ring, thin layer, and subtle lacing. Nose of heavy citrus, light pine, and rich lightly toasted malts. Flavors exceed the nose with pineapple and citrus notes galore based on a solid malt backbone on the front and sides, mango and papaya blend nicely with pine notes on the middle and rear with strong booze on the back that is warming and pleasant. Nice mouth feel, medium carbonation level with a slick and smooth citrus and caramel malt aftertaste. Overall Excellence from a great little brewery!
Cheers!

I found this beer to be very interesting, but it is quite different from what most people look for in an IPA. It is pretty darker in color and a bit heavier in flavor, but definitely not malty. I couldn't really explain the flavor until I realized that this beer is 10% ABV. It's almost like a hoppy barleywine.

Poured into tulip from a 22 oz bottle. Pours an dark orange color with a very this circle of head around the glass. The head disappeared almost immediately. Smells of malt and some pine with a little citrus. Tastes of big breads malt and slight bitterness. Very little hop goodness. Mouthfeel is almost completely flat and watery. I hope this was a bad bottle. The Brewer described it as a malt bomb and I agree. Not what I'm looking for in an ipa.

I have cooked better.
I picked this up at Crafty Drafts in Ghana on Saturday and I was assured it was fresh. I bought three other Zaftg bombers and this is the first one I cracked open, so I am worried. It's totally flat. It's cloudy and copper colored.
The aroma is acceptable. Slightly hoppy and inoffensive, for the most part. Maybe slightly funky. The taste is slughtly hoppy too, but way less than expected for the style.
Obviously I got a very bad bottle, but this is my sample. I will probably pour $7.80 down the drain. So far I would recommend avoiding the brewer. I hope the other three are much better.

Looks like swamp water. Head much improved on second pour. Great lacing for the abv. Light hops and malt on the nose. Alcohol is well masked. Taste better than expected. Some light tropical and citrus hops lead way to a pleasant malt backbone. Some booziness but well balanced. Carbonation is present and smooth. Not much to look at, but this is otherwise a real solid double ipa.
