Sparse head and thinner than the others I've had from Zaftig. Based on a couple killer brews, I would put Zaftig in the top 6 or so Stout-makers in the country (others: Fremont, Jackie'Os, Cigar City, Ole Hickory, Goose Island). This one though disappointed. Taste was mostly raspberries with a paltry touch of booze, coffee, and chocolate. It was thinner than most of their offers without the carbonation to balance that out.

Really had high expectations for this brew, but was sadly disappointed. Extremely thin and waterly upon taste. Very little aroma, if any, definitely not a rival to Founder's KBS! Over priced, average beer at best, at $10.99 per 12 ounce bottle. After three sips, poured it down the drain.

12 ounce bottle, bottled on December 2015. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head. Head retention is good, and there's a decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, molasses, and coffee. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some roasted malt noticeable. Roasty, sweet and a little boozy, it's an enjoyable stout for sure! Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit coating and creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this barrel aged stout, definitely worth picking up if you come across some! $9.99 a bottle.
