Better than the coconut variant; actually a decent "vanilla stout" - has enough drying char to keep the sweetness from getting sloppy... Choco-char and ash following a wet chocolate and vanilla start... Zaftig's bourbon barrel wee heavy was transcendent, so I gave a couple of these Blacklight stouts a try - this one was good...

I tried this at the brewery. It poured an opaque black with ecru head that did not leave any lace. The scent had hints of vanilla and coffee. The taste had slight roast and vanilla. The mouthfeel is fuller in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it's a good beer.

Oddly enough a better rating than the original Black Light from the brewery, via
a growler, in a snifter. This FINE stout pours a rich murky black with subtle brown highlights
and a very nice head of light brown foam that subsides to a thick ring, thin layer, and nice lacing.
nose of dark sweet chocolate, subtle coffee, and light notes of vanilla bean with a touch of char.
Flavors follow but exceed by weight of taste with dark sweet chocolate and a touch of cream followed by
cold pressed coffee with medium bitterness and a nice balanced REAL vanilla bean note that is not
overpowering or cloying. BALANCE BALANCE BALANCE....near perfect balance witha nice touch of char
and deeply roasted malts. Excellent mouth feel; full, smooth, coating, and mildly carbonated with a sweet
vanilla and dark sweet chocolate aftertaste. One of the best infused stouts I have had to date. Zaftig knows
balance and heft without overdoing the later making for a solid well crafted brew.
Cheers Zaftig, and keep up the great work!
