Ol' Rugger - Double Barrel

12 ounce bottle. 2020 vintage, purchased at the brewery release on November 7th. Served in a Zaftig snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with almost an inch tan head. Head retention was decent, and there's a small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like vanilla, bourbon, dark fruit, molasses, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some oak, earthy, tobacco and toffee flavors. It is mostly sweet smelling and tasting, but not overpoweringly so. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's syrupy, creamy and a bit coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. It's boozy but not as much as I expected for being 17%. I thought this was a pretty good imperial stout, definitely one of the better Ol' Rugger variants I've tried. Definitely worth trying if you get the chance to!
