This Belgian style quadruple is our tribute to our chef friends who are known on occasion to go a little over the edge. They have graciously proven to us that food is art and that they love their craft. We hope it is a worthy and perfect compliment to a well-cooked meal. Deep brown in color with hints of caramel, plum and fig, this big beer is great with hearty fare or as an after dinner beer. With an abv approaching 10% some might say we’re the ones that went a little over the edge.

From the corked bottle, it pours a hazy darker amber with a modest head that soon reduces to a slight ring. In the nose, it is sweetish alcohol to me. In the mouth, it is sweetish malt and darker fruits. Share this one with friends, as it is quite powerful.

A: This poured a cloudy dark copper with a little tan head.
S: It smelled like dark fruit and earthy caramel and nutty toffee.
T: It tasted like nutty toffee and earthy caramel, with some dark fruit and copper hops. It had a clean and bittersweet aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Light body.
D: This was a nice quad with well balanced scent and taste but nothing unique or especially delicious. The body was weak but the finish was smooth with well hidden alcohol, so it was easy to drink. Should age really well. Fresh is good not great.

Deep gold color with light tan head and tremendous lacing. Aroma is sweet and yeasty with a bit of dark fruits. Taste is sweet and yeasty and mouth feel is mild. Good finish.

A tasting a a beer festival may not be fair, but a quad is asking for a review. A serious effort with midling results. I like this beer, but quads are not in my normal styles, so take that into account. Amber with clouds and no lace holding to a tasters glass. No sustained head. This may be different if you have more than 5 ozs, but that is the report. There is a lot of middle tongue confusion. It's like drinking without having thirst quenched. These folks are trying for Belgium, but I don't think this quite made it. This is not my style, so take my review in that context. It was interesting enough to make me write this review.

Poured from a 750 cork and cage into a snifter, the beer is a vibrant, slightly hazed, ruby-caramel coloring with a foamy, bubbly, tall, off-white head. Steady flow of carbonation throughout the body. Aromas of apple, cherry, toffee, date, raisins, and bread. Smells are a bit muted. Flavors are very sweet and rich forward, heavy on old world fruit characteristics such as fig, date, and plum, with solid doses of apple, caramel, and toffee in there, as well. Subtle spice notes of nutmeg, coriander, and cinnamon. Very sweet overall, to the point of cloying in the aftertaste. Slick, oily, robust body, with a slow, lingering finish. The ABV is hidden well throughout.

750ml bottle into a tulip duvel glass. Pours an amber brown with 2 full fingers of fluffy tan head that lingered. Smells of plums and raisins among barley. Not much of a smell. Tastes like a traditional quadrupel. However, the plums and high ABV give it a cough medicine taste to me. Not bad but not good either.

Thin, very fruity on the nose but minimal complexity or mouthfeel. Not terrible, just not memorable. Go with Agents of Chaos

L: Beer looks good, big fluffy off-white head

S: Doesn't smell much like a belgian. Some malts, and dark fruits, but very little in the way of sugar or yeast...especially for a quad.

T: Taste agrees with the smell: this in no way resembles a quad. the alcohol is light, the flavor is light. Some candied dark fruits and some malts. In a blind taste taste I would have guessed dubbel at best.

M: Quite light.

O: Not a terrible beer, but when you call something a quad, I look for alcoholic phenol, belgian yeast, candy sugars... this beer had none of that. not a terrible beer, perhaps, but an absolutely atrocious quad.

A: The beer is slightly hazy amber in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high off white head that has very good retention properties and consistently left a quarter finger high head covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of Belgian yeast are present in the nose along with notes of spices and hints of dark fruits.
T: Like the smell, the taste starts off with flavors of Belgian yeast but the dark fruits are much stronger—plums seem to stand out in particular—along with some hints of spices towards the back end. No alcohol is noticeable. The taste becomes more complex as the beer warms up.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is also a little smoothness.
O: For a strong quadrupel, this beer is quite drinkable because it does a good job hiding its alcohol.
