Decent color and light, thin head. Color is mostly deep gold with very little red tinge to it. Aroma is malty and grainy. Taste is very yeasty with a subtle background of grains, some toasted. Hops take the back seat but this one is a little thin and watery

Pours a deep murky dark amber almost brown in color when not held to the light. Thumb sized tan head falls to ringed scum with spotty lace.

Aroma is toasted malts, light nutty notes. Whiffs of pear and liquid smoke or something underneath.

Taste is like the nose big on malt, caramel and toffee mixed some light nuttiness. Finish is earthy and light spice notes. Again light smoke and pear or green apple hints.

Mouthfeel is medium nice smooth mellow carbonation.

Overall not the greatest amber but defiantly a big malt bomb of an amber. Worth a try if you like malty amber ales. Wouldn't replace my go to but worth having.

On nitro:
Of course the head looks good on nitro, so I weighted the body more here. Red comes out, but with only a glance, I'd say this was a brown ale or a dirty amber.

Nose is a wonderful malty sweetness. There's a very light hint of peat to keep the beer from smelling to "sugary." Deeper whiff brings out a mossy green bitterness. If the look had me wondering style, the nose did not.

The taste is no surprise at all given the nose. About the only difference is that the bitterness does not make as big a dent as I would've thought. Maltiness toeing the line of too sweet is how I would describe it.

The nitro was smooth, but a tad watery. Could see this being thinner as a regular pour.

Enjoyable for a malty beer, and in the right mood, would order again.

Definitely red in color against my incandescent lamp. Clear with plenty of carbonation and a light tan 1 finger head and decent lacing.

Aroma of toasted malt and caramel. Nice graininess.

Taste of sweet malt. Caramel, toast and grain are all present here, but are less obvious than in the aroma. Lightly bitter from roast malt and hops.

Light to moderate in body and light in carbonation. Light creamy feel with a bit of warmth from the alcohol..

An easy and pleasant drinker. Killians Red was my favorite beer for awhile in my early days of drinking micro brews. It would be interesting to do a side by side comparison.
