Bottle from Lep-Ro-Kan market. Near black pour with small beige foamy head. While aroma is mildly sweet and hints at the roast grains, the taste comes in with a full chocolate taste.

On-tap in Meridian. Dark body, opaque, with a frothy khaki head and impressive lacing. Chocolate, light-to-medium roast, cocoa, impressions of coffee, fluffy mouthfeel, creamy.

this is a milk stout, there is lactose in it, but its one cut from the old school, not overly sweet, no vanilla or other crap in here, and the lactose is a mouthfeel thing, not a leading force in it, where has this art of subtlety gone? heck, its not even all that subtle really, there is a little finishing creamy sweetness from it on the back end and even on the teeth past the swallow, balancing out the bitterness of the dark roasted barley, but i think our collective expectations of the style are diabetic now, so even this seems restrained. i like the simplicity of the beer, and can definitely pick out some brown ale elements in the grain base too, cocoa, caramel, coffee. there is nice body to this from the oats, but not a big oatmeal flavor or anything, more texture, just like the lactose. faint smoke, licorice spice, and dark chocolate bitterness as this warms, but the balance is excellent, the mouthfeel is full without being heavy, and there is a real luxurious vibe to this overall. little bit of coffee linger to it, but tidy on the ferment. nice beer, great for this time of year, and its nice to have these guys selling beer in boise now!

Pours an opaque black color with a foamy tan head. Smells like dark sugars, molasses. Taste is a sweetened charcoal flavor with a mild bitter finish. Slightly cloying.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a tulip. This vintage is 6.3% ABV.
Appearance: totally black with a thick finger of frothy tan foam atop. It's what the style demands!
Smell: a light roasty malt with a bit of vegetal hop character. Not bad, if not anything to write home about.
Taste: there's a good roastiness here, but there's also some vegetal character and the overall finish doesn't seem super clean. It's not a bad stout, but it has its imperfections.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess. I really dig the texture.
Overall: not too bad, although it feels a little rough around the edges to me.

22 oz bottle, no date but just purchased.
Jet black in color , thick creamy tan colored head. Good head retention. Aroma is roasty, and some toasted marshmallow in there too. Taste is similar, good balance of sweet chocolately flavors and dry roasty coffee flavors. Slick silly mouthfeel, fuller bodied. Well done.

Handsome dark brown brew with a long-lasting, sticky pile of foam in the Einbecker Pils glass. Very creamy and satisfying carbonation. It's made with oats which give it a smooth mouthfeel. Some grainy aroma with a hint of cooked cereal and coffee.
Dark caramel malty flavor with just enough sweetness. This is really a classic American-style Stout. Rich and roasted with a mellow Porter-like taste but sharpened up with the bitter chocolate finish. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Pioneer Market in La Conner. Another winner for Moses Lake.
