Poured into a Stone Gargoyle flute. Pours a dark mahogany brown, nearly opaque in the glass with a one finger khaki head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, mild chocolate and coffee; muted. Flavor is dark toasted malt, bakers chocolate, mild coffee and some light rye flavor and mild tartness; chocolate in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I had to pick this up as a rye porter is not a common style to find, and it it does please with the interesting rye character in a normally malt forward style. Malt depth was somewhat subdued, but made a suitable background for the rye. Seemed a little dialed-back, but it could have some age on it. The label recommends checking the date code under the can with an arrow pointing to the base, but sadly the code is absent or printed in invisible ink. Muted, but pleasant. Nice enough that if I see it fresh, I'll definitely get it again.

Pours a deep, dark brown with a super thick khaki colored head and plenty of lacing. Huge aromas and flavors of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and earthiness come up. Super creamy mouthfeel; another stand-out beer from Institution. Just outstanding.
