Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a one finger dark khaki head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of semi-sweet, dark toasted malt, vanilla and chocolate; kinda smells like a chocolate milkshake. Flavor is dark toasted malt with light char, dark chocolate, vanilla and a touch of lactose. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess and silky mouth feel. This stout looks and smells great and tastes good too, although a bit muted for the ABV. The mouth feel is excellent and exactly what I want and expect from an oatmeal stout. There is a mild lactose note that may be related to the vanilla, but makes the profile similar to a milk stout. Not sure why this one hasn't gotten much love here, but although it could be a bit more robust, I like it quite a bit. This can even has a few months on it and still is quite enjoyable.
