Appearance: A nearly black body that turns dark brown when put up to the light that boasts steady carbonation. Poured with a solid two fingers of head that did produce lace, but did not retain very well.
Smell: Smoke with roasted malt notes, warming does help it a bit but it's plenty potent without it.
Taste: Starts with well roasted malt with a hint of smoke and dark chocolate. The chocolate note slightly builds while the smoke stays mostly under the water as the chocolate bitterness peaks and leaves a dry smokey snap to the experience.
Mouthfeel: My biggest issue is that the carbonation turns flat around the half way point. The transistioning is fairly good and a mild smokey aftertaste is pleasent, but starts to overstay it's welcome near the end of the beer.
Drinkability: On the lighter end of medium bodied, which I feel is a bit of a disservice here. Mainly because it has a dry end which while having a place, curbs it from being an easy drinker, and because it doesn't feel like a heavier beer, leaves me wanting. Not as gassy as other Perth brews I've tried though, and settles down well enough.
Final Thoughts: A perfectly serviceable dark lager, whose main area of strength is it's taste. I could see it going well with shellfish in the summer. Worth a whirl but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Can: Poured a black color lager with a medium size head with OK retention. Aroma of roasted malt notes with light dry bitter notes. Taste is a mix of dry roasted malt notes with light subtle chocolate notes with a dry finish. Body is light with good carbonation. Not bad with good drinkability level.
