Carried from the curb at Beermiscuous... my source for Chicagoland's more obscure micros.
It would be nice for more Milds to be brewed in the U.S. They offer a simpler way to enjoy beer at low ABV... of which By Day certainly qualifies.
It doesn't Look particularly interesting, but Smells are simultaneously simple (nutty, sweet) and complex (syrupy, sometimes reminiscent of cola syrup... but still clearly beer.) Tastes add a bit of chocolate/coffee. At 2%, this is light; but that's OK for the right situation... like lunch.
I'll have By Day again; but Middle Brow has lots of brewing talent that doesn't seem to get focussed.

Served from the can in a Phase Three snifter.
Apparently, this beer has a secret identity of sorts, eh? Anyway, it pours a clear mahogany topped by a finger of light beige foam. The nose comprises walnuts, flowers, powdered sugar, and light dried maple syrup. The taste brings in more of the same, with a slightly stronger sense of maple syrup and the addition of a bit of grass and some very light coffee notes. The body is a rather light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a nice, enjoyable, and eminently drinkable little mild, something you certainly don't see enough of these days.
