a really excellent marzen lager, one of the better locally made ones i have come across this year, and something i think these guys do really well. its rusty orange colored beer, perfectly clear from the tap, almost shockingly so, its glowing in the glass under an inch of cream colored head, looks just right for the style. aroma is nutty and toasted, earthy and warming, a little caramelized but not too sweet, a pretty classic marzen type built to the mash, and it translates perfectly to the flavor, where the malts are european and earthy, carrying a light maple note and a hearty property thats perfect for a fall seasonal. this is quite obviously patiently lagered as well, its dry in the end, but the yeast doesnt flavor the beer too much, its still delicate and subtle in here, but this really finishes nicely, crisp for a maltier lager, great carbonation, and a mellow overall feel that means major drinkability for this one. its flavorful but not too bold to pair with all the delicious food on the menu in here. this is a great take on the style, one of the better american made marzens out there right now as far as i am concerned, it also has the best name of any of them...
