a really strong offering from these guys, a rye ipa, they always do the hoppy stuff well in here. i do think its a touch conservative on the pale rye malt, i want more of it, more spice and earthy intensity, but what is here i enjoy a lot, and i think it works great with the hops, whatever they are, northwestern and higher alpha, insanely fresh, this tastes somewhat old school to me, reminds me of something bear republic used to do, its got that early craft west coast vibe to it, i really dig that. its nice and dry, bubbly, and even refreshing for being as grainy as it is. fresh orange and pine and even peach notes to the hops, but also plenty of bitterness, this should appeal to just about anyone who likes any kind of hoppy beer, its all here. light copper and other minerals to it, the dry rye pop, and the juicy hop profile, nicely dry hopped, balanced beyond belief, and full of flavor. they always make good ipa here, but this one is both a throwback and a modern recipe at the same time, one of their best in awhile! they should keep making this instead of rotating it out...
