a well made overall beer, but very safe, we usually get a little more out of the ipa types here, but this is drinkable for what it is, and is decidedly not on trend, which i am attracted to in this style right now. a little malt color to it, light brassy look, a short white head, lots of clarity, a little rusty glow to it. a light nutty malt note here, but not as grainy in taste as the color suggests it might be. the hops have a little tropical fruit to them, interesting with the bready grain base, peach and pineapple and something rather botanical, a grapefruit kind of bitterness too, but its really mild. this seems to be designed for balanced, easy drinking, with some hop flavor but without being too assertive. i kind of wish it was a bit more robust, the hop profile is great, and more of it would be greater. relaxed carbonation, lighter body too than i thought it would have, smooth in feel, simple really, but good. overall i expected a little more from this one, just given the high arch of their previous hoppy beers, but an interesting change of pace in a style that needs exactly that.
