A: The beer is hazy dark brownish amber in color (dark brown when viewed from afar). It poured with a quarter finger high tan colored head that left lots of lacing down the sides of the glass and a collar around the edge.
S:The nose starts off with initial aromas of bananas (from the yeast) and toasted malts. Some notes of rye are also noticeable towards the back end.
T: The taste is quite similar to the smell, having some additional hints of candi sugars in the initial flavors (to go along with the banana esters) and is followed by notes of toasted malts and hints of spicy rye.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate with hints of chewiness and a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Compared to the other roggenbiers that I've had, this one seems to be lighter on the rye and is more like a cross between a dunkelweizen and a roggenbier.
Serving type: growler
