not sure if this origins brewing on the label is like a side or wild project from fyne, or if thats just their tagline or sometime, doesnt matter, this beer is amazing, one of the coolest and best i had while in europe, and honestly a really neat and modern take on a rustic style, foraged beer has been my jam of late, and this one is done with foraged flowering currant buds and branches, and then finished on juniper. its funky and tart, earthy and rustic, wild and interesting, and although likely a polarizing drink, i thought it was lovely and unique! i like the packaging and the name a lot, and i like the beer inside the bottle just as much. its hazy sort of orange hued and lively headed, with an aroma of gin botanicals and honey, some grains sweetness and a beyond floral, almost wet flower petal element as well, rose and elderflower and hibiscus all come to mind, its springy as they come, polleny and real, and there is a neat citric tartness and young bretty funk about it, some green glass oxidation here too which is not out of place. the flavor is a little more acidic than it smells like, a bacterial element from their culture quite well established now, but the added ingredients contribute a ton, behind the citric tang is fresh cut meadow flowers in spring, and more of a juniper berry than juniper branch element, clean and organic to me, from nature, not so piney. the richer bready english malt base gives it an autumnal vibe, which is contrary to the trajectory of the rest of it, but its like several seasons in my mouth all at once. note sure ive seen currant blossoms in beer before, but i love what they add and am curious about them now, seems like it could be a cool add to a lambic type as well. i love the funk this finishes with, all the bubbles, and the sourness isnt too much. just a really cool, one of a kind, fully wild beer with some neat ingredients. this is the kind of thing thats a good answer to the question of why i love beer so much, spend so much time, energy, money, and brain power on it. this is so thoughtful and cool. bravo! need some more from these guys!!!
