Beer is one of the oldest beverages humans have produced, and Arabs began cultivating coffee in the 14th century. With histories like that, and our love for coffee being almost as great as our love for beer, how could we not combine the two? “Roasted” is a single-hopped strong ale blended with cold brewed coffee. Because we never heat the coffee, the bitter oils in the coffee remain present, but not dominant. This creates a smooth balance of bitter and sweet with hints of caramel. This award winner took third place in a brewing competition, yet we forgot to tell them it was gluten-free.

Roasted pours a brown color, with a large, forthy head. Aroma is mild but nice fresh coffee aromas. Flavor is sweet, bold, with a sweet coffee flavorm. Good body and feel. Overall, nice coffee ale, on the sweet side

Poured from 16oz can into glass. No canning date information found. Website lists this at 7.7ABV%.
Clear, deep amber colored body. Persistent, light tan colored head, which is creamy. Most lacing created by each sip quickly slides back into beer.
Aroma of strong coffee and toffee. Also gives off the sweet sorghum used in the brew.
Taste is rather sweet for a dark beer, but still has some roasted and nutty notes, along with the strong coffee. Has lesser toffee notes, and some dark fruity aspects. No bitterness and well balanced.
Creamy mouth feel but rather thin. Adequate carbonation.
It kind of tastes like a natural root soda pop. No real recognized "beer" character, but sorghum is likely the only fermentable grain used. A little too sweet for my palate, but quite smooth for what it is. Coffee is there throughout the smell and taste.

L: bright brown under a 1" light tan foam cap with fair retention
S: Coffee and sorghum dominate the aromas with some roast and dark sugar notes
T: coffee, a hint of chocolate, a trace of fruit sweetened with brown sugar and a touch of caramel
F: medium body and medium carbonation
O: This is a full flavored beer that even those not avoiding gluten will enjoy but it has satiating richness which tends to make it a one at a time beer

a gluten free coffee ale, and my favorite of the two or three beers i had in here. the beer is lighter brown in color, holds a decent lace head, and has a great coffee aroma and flavor that is at once roasty and caramelized and earthy and bitter. the coffee is way out in front of the malts, which i think is just sorghum in here, its cleaner than a barley based beer might be, and lighter too, so the flavor of the coffee is really pretty prominent. hints of chocolate too, and toasted seeds or something, bready in a different kind of way, the sorghum seems to have less flavor on its own, but be quite interesting in combination with the coffee and the yeast, which is sort of doughy and english in its own right. i could stand a little more body here for the coffee to cling to, but i also like the lightness of it, very easy drinking for a brown ale type. it has to be hard to make beer like this, being limited by the available base ingredients, and i think these guys have done a really nice job creating flavorful and interesting beers that are fully gluten free. nice work.

L: Deep dark red, almost brown.
S: The nose is similar to a light roast coffee. Not over powering, but not subtle either.
T: Taste follows the nose, and is quite pleasant. Not bitter, but the coffee is still present.
F: Significantly lighter than we thought it would be. Very creamy and drinkable.
O: This is a delicious beer for any coffee flavored beer lover. My wife is gluten-free, and felt this was easily the best dark beer she's found in the variety. I'm not gluten-free, and I wouldn't have been able to tell you that this was a gluten-free ale had it not been labeled as such.
