Stoneface Brewing Co.
New Hampshire, United States

Style: American Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
An incredibly satisfying double IPA that is a bit more malt forward than other examples of the style. Flavorful, smooth and dangerously drinkable, this beer features a massive dry hop of Mosaic and Azacca hops.
Fun Fact: This is considered the “malty” double in our portfolio. Originally named Mozacca (a combination of two hops used) brewer Dan Stampone later renamed it Mozaccalypse

Here’s a beer where the sum is greater than its parts. Drank a can packaged on 11/21 on 11/24, so very fresh. Slightly hazy in the glass and drinks smooth. Worth waiting in line for at their gorgeous brewery in New Hampshire. I’m predicting that’s these guys are on the VERGE of greatness. Cheers!

Tastes a lot like my favorite Florida beer, Jai Alai from Cigar City Brewery in Tampa.

16 oz can. "Kindergarten hop" 9/26/17 on bottom of can

A cloudy, white golden color, plenty of life with a full-blown, thick, white sea foamy cap. Lacy after a prolonged recetion.

The nose features earthy citrus, aromatic pine sap, lemmon zest and earthy grains. Citrus/fruity hop bomb aroma mostly.

The flavor is all about the citrus and tropical , tangy fruit hop complexity. Big doses and multi layered flavor from the Mozacca hop. A light, crisp, grainy malt balance holds it all down. A classic version of the New England style IPA.

The mouthfeel and body is lively, crisp but practically full feeling going down with sharp, juicy finish. Healthy. Unpasteurized and unfiltered feel for sure.

Overall a very nice and standard version of the NEDIPA.

Thanks jhavs for this
16 oz can, dated 6/9/17, poured into a teku

A- A hazy golden orange with a three finger white head.

S- Lots of citrus, some pineapple, a slight sting of alcohol.

T- Lots of citrus, some tropical fruits, slightly sweet, big piney finish with some alcohol.

M- Fairly smooth, medium body, alcohol is slightly off putting.

O- Maybe this batch is having minor issues, the amount of alcohol I'm getting is off putting for 8% ABV, outside of that I find this enjoyable.

had in a can from the brewery, dated 2 weeks ago. color is golden but more cloudy than hazy. smell is subtle and the taste has a bit more bite than their flagship IPA, which I like, and the finish is smooth. definitely like more than their IPA but it is still more of an average DIPA for the area.

16 oz can dated 6/9/17

Pours a vibrant, very hazy deep gold color with a one finger white head that retains well. Most impressive.

The aroma is wonderful - grapefruit and nectarine notes are strong.

Taste is smooth and slightly sweet up front blending very well with a citrus hop flavor that creeps in after the initial taste along with a bit of spice. There is just nothing offensive in this flavor profile. No alcohol burn either, so its easy to forget this is a DIPA.

Mouthfeel is soft, almost creamy - a very lupulin-like feel. Low bitterness coupled with a seltzery feel makes for a great combination.

Very hop-smelling beers is not what I associate Stoneface with so I will have to re-calibrate. This is a fantastic beer that gives most of the Portland hazies to the north a run for their money. The combination of flavor, seltzer and smooth feel just works very well. I'm glad to see this local brewery stretching their muscles.

If you doing the usual Treehouse/Trillium beer run - or to Portland - work in a stop at Stoneface. The new tasting room is awesome. Great food - friendly vibe and tasty brews. This being one of their best. Juicy with Citrus notes and also well balanced, wonderful beer.
