This dark Saison is mysterious in the ways it delivers big flavors. A rich malt character with subtle chocolate notes meld perfectly with the light barrel funk and bright, tart raspberries.

16.9 oz bottle into a tulip glass.

Pours a cherry cola color with a large tan head. Great retention with some splotchy lacing.

Lots of earthy aromas of oak, fresh hay, barnyard funk, and freshly mowed grass with some raspberries and a faint hint of chocolate.

The flavor is surprisingly simple and a bit disappointing. A little oak up front followed by a modest wave of chocolate and raspberries.

The feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Creamy and far too soft for the style.

Overall, this is a pretty mediocre farmhouse ale. The aroma is solid for the style, but the flavor is more in line with a fruited stout or dark ale. Not enough carbonation or earthy flavors here.
