A: Pours up a pale straw gold with a soapy, two-finger head. Head retention is a little weak.
S: Immediate notes of barnyard funk that stop just shy of fruity, then deliver some notes of kiwi and clean grain along with funk, esters follow.
T: Working backwards here, what manifests as kiwi on the nose emerges as minerality in the finish here. Crisp, clean and tart (But not overly so). Very balanced for a funkier expression of the style. Some subtle lemon notes come through as well along with clean bread and I do think I get the spelt which always manifests for me with the grainy tartness of wheat without the floral quality.
M: Dry as hell, the way it should be.
O: While I would not say this beer is brimming with personality, I would say that it is incredibly well executed and manages the gulf between funky saisons and cleaner ones with a lot of grace. I very much enjoyed this and would buy it again.
