This is a great beer for a pint, or growler, or two. There's a hint of smoke that's hard to pull out, but it helps build out wonderful ground coffee, toffee, and dark chocolate character. Citrus hops pop up, making this drink more like a hoppy brown. Crisp finish, medium body on the lighter side. I'm a big fan.

This take on a dark English Mild is the color I'd expect, but quite a bit murkier than most. It's an opaque medium brown. The head is a reasonably thick and tall tan one with good retention that leaves pretty good patching in the beer's wake.
It's got all the hallmarks of a good Mild, and gets the balance right between overdone and too weak. It's got plenty of flavor without the face-blasting Americanization. It's got nutty and steely sort of notes, earthy and toasty as well leaning bready. There are also some good overlying fruity esters, and hops contribute just the right drying herbal bitterness.
The feel is slightly thicker than many in its medium body, crisp while maintaining a fair amount of smoothness. It doesn't have all the dryness of some of the classics, but it does lean that way with the herbal leaf and steely quality. It does come off a little heavy on the carbonation, biting and fizzing just a bit.
