Interestingly, this beer is only slightly thicker than the Xtra-Mild despite the addition of coffee in equally unfiltered beers. According to the brewer, it is the exact same beer with coffee added. Thus, it's a very murky medium brown, completely opaque. The head is a tan one with similarly good size, retention and lace.
All of elements of a good English Mild and the one making up this beer's base are there, with the same nutty, earthy, mineral, herbal, toasty and bready notes found in the Xtra. The coffee addition is a strong one, though, offering lots of fresh roast in the aromatics and the flavor. What makes or breaks a coffee beer, obviously, is the coffee, and this coffee from local roaster cafe Kubal is some of the best. It's very good, but it gets above a 4 if not for just the slightest clashing with a very minimal aspect of the base.
The feel is similar to Xtra, with no thickness added by the coffee and the roast not detracting from the softer dryness or adding too much. It does share the slight issue with just a tinge of overcarbonation.
