From a Howler purchased at Liquor Shed.
Pours pitch black with a small head of foam that shrinks quickly to a ring around the glass.
Smells of fresh dark roast coffee grounds.
Whoa. The taste is as huge as the smell. Dark roast coffee almost to the point of burnt. Intense bitterness that only true lovers of coffee and coffee beers could possibly appreciate. Folks, I'm not kidding around here.
Pretty light bodied with lightish carbonation.
Morning coffee needed to wake you up? This is caffeinated!
I'm putting the rest of my Howler aside for tomorrow. ;^)

this was the best of the four beers i had at this place, and one of the best coffee beers ive had this year. its the most drinkable one i think i have ever had, especially considering the abv. wow is this good. rich and frothy in a pint glass, tall khaki head running down the side. nose of cold brewed coffee, no acidity at all, tons of bitter dark chocolate and earthy roasted notes, just short of burnt, super dark. the malt base is awesome too, highly complimentary to the coffee with an ashy roast and a dry finish, lots of body in the middle and a kiss of toffee sweetness before the coffee comes on. i love the coffee they used, i want a cup of it, maybe thats part of why i like this so much, but its a unique brew, and fits the beer perfectly. at 7% abv, its scary how easy this went down. one of those beers i will dream of for the winter, as the snow falls i could sip beer after beer. all the beers here were good, but this was the clear winner in my book. a stand out in its field, and one that deserves some attention from us beer geeks.
