Thanks so much Megan for sharing this one!
Unfortunately the caps weren't fully tightened at the brewpub, and 1/3 of the growler leaked. Thankfully the carb was better on this one than the Summit pale.
Brownish black when poured, inky black in the glass, intricate lacing around the edges of the glass, and a thin layer of tan foam that sticks around for a few minutes. Wispy floating veil on the surface remains for the duration of the glass.
Ashy char and some bitter greens in the aroma.
Deep resinous bitterness, pine greenery, roasty char that blends occasionally into a smoky note. Long lingering aftertaste that lasts seemingly forever, roasty and piney. Nice little campfire impression at times. Creamy and medium bodied. Everything works well, I felt like the aroma could have improved some, but again it could have been the leaky cap.
