a neat take on an american brown, like the others i had from them, just different enough to stand out from the crowd, and very well made, but still fully within normal style conventions at the same time. nice chocolate brown color to this one, short tan head on top, patchy lace, and a chocolate malt aroma backed up by more hops than anticipated in a brown, quite intriguing in the nose. the hops are both piney and citrusy in the flavor, northwestern but also sort of new school, not quite dry hopped tasting, but late kettle i would imagine for sure, even a hop spice and bitterness to the finish of this one. the malt base is earthy and simple, but they were smart to keep it on the drier side, its really nice with these hops, and it keeps the beer really easy drinking. its still got some body too, substantial enough for fall and winter i would think. a nicely made and very easy drinking beer, i have liked what i have had from these guys so far, but the name rock and run is just awful, who let them get away with that?! beer is better than the name by leaps and bounds, so dont let that stop you from checking out their beer!
