curious beer here, a saison of sorts, brewed with some local home brewer i think, and done with pink peppercorns and cantaloupes, among other things i think, very interesting stuff, pungent and perfumey, but tasty and pretty well done at the same time, if you dont mind them a little bit intense. sure the added flavors are a lot, things like rose hip and potpourri and white tea all come up, but there is a nice beery character to it from the french type saison yeast that keeps it grounded, its peppery and botanical and vinous and fresh, estery in the right ways for the added flavors, and the melon is appropriately restrained, lightly sweet but more like a nectar than a fleshy fruit, really summery and good, lost maybe a bit to the esters and the pink peppercorns, but its all real compatible. not sure i want to drink more than one of these, which generally is never a positive attribute of a saison type, but i like it a lot for some reason, its unique enough to be totally original, and i think that counts for a lot. effervescence of feel is nice, and it stays dry which helps too. maybe they could scale back the aromatic additives a little bit next time, but this is a cool idea and its rad to have some experimental beers working in here right now! their list is dynamic and diverse currently, more interesting than i have ever seen it...
