Had heard good things about Absolution Brewing out of Torrance, but this was the first time I tried something of theirs. Had pretty high hopes.
Poured a reddish, brown, murky color with two fingers of khaki, frothy head when I got it. Very good spiderweb lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled nice mix of hops and malts, getting rye, floral, Citra and maybe Cascade for the hops, and roasty malts, chocolate, toffee and nuts for the malts. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted a lot lighter than I thought I would have. Was nice, but not good as the smell. Rye, roasted nuts, bitter soap, toast, roasted grain, Citra, floral, pine and bitter chocolate. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Thin-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.50)
This was OK, not great. I think I overrated it just a tad overall. (Overall - 3.50)
