Tried two samples of this at EBF, wasn't sure if I liked it the first time. Still not really sure:
Appearance: poured a nice, deep, black color on the body, with a thin, quickly dissipating mocha head. I could actually see carbonation on this, which was surprising at 10%.
Aroma: super heavy on the spice, the pepper actually made me wince a little bit. I LOVE peppers, so this probably wasn't as big a deal for me as some other reviews on here. That being said, the pepper covered up what probably were some more subtle aromas in this. I got a little bit of chocolate, but the others were probably a little muted.
Taste: following the smell, this is an overload of peppers. I didn't hate it, but I thought it could have been made much more subtle, and fit the peppers in as a compliment to the chocolatey, roasty flavors that probably were present instead of just blasting the palate with heat. The massive punch of heat left the beer with a bit of an odd vegetal flavor.
Feel: a little thin for a 10% RIS, but the body isn't the biggest issue here.
Overall: I wanted to like this beer, because I love hot peppers, love imperial stouts, and love most of Foundation's brews, but this felt one-note and as a result, suffered. I get that Foundation likes to take flavor to the ultimate degree (Epiphany), but take the pepper down a notch or two and this is probably a solid brew.

EBF sample. Poured a rich black. I am very hit or miss with the peppery dark beers. Mexican chocolate style stouts and the like are sometimes good and sometimes bad. This one was too aggressive for me. Pepper was too hot and it gave off an almost burnt plastic flavor. Maybe too much cacao? The cinnamon was fairly faint. It even smelled decent but I could sense the heat from the pepper. It burned too heavy. Not my favorite.
