I've been waiting for this for a year now -- Prototype 4 was one of my all time favorite beers with its grassy notes. Though this one is different it is quite good and I'm pleased with my purchase of 3 4-packs :)
It pours a very cloudy to opaque bright yellowish orange-gold with a hint of greenish tint to it. The head stays fairly low and does not retain well. Lacing is poor, probably due to the low malt content.
Aroma is pungent - almost assaults the nose with green hop notes of apricot, grapefruit rind and grass.
The taste is very similar - all green hops up front. The grassiness comes through strongly, so there is an earthiness to the taste along with citrus notes. The apricot is very subtle lending just a sweetness to the background of the hops. Malt is low and bitterness is moderate. This is a showcase for hops and it does the job very well.
Feel is very soft and clean, so it is unsticky to the lips. This makes what could have been a thin beer feel more fleshed out with body.
Gotta say I like this one. Bold hop flavor all the way - could be too much for some of you who do not like intense hops.
