Part of our rotating series, Prototype 7 is an IPA brewed to explore the interplay of Denali and El Dorado hops, with Citra providing support. The huge dank nose leads to flavors of orange and white grape on the palate, finishing soft and clean.

Nice mouth feel, nice head. A little different than most IPAs kicking around these days.

From a 16oz can, dated 09/20/18. Served in a spiegelau-style IPA glass.
Pours a lightly hazy amber-gold with a finger or so of soft, soapy fluff. Retention is only good for about a minute but leaves a nice bubbly cap and collar and a light curtain of lacing.
Medium nose, pleasant, fruity and flowery with a little musky something.
Taste starts off fruity-sweet and slowly builds to a rindy and piney bitterness. Pineapple, sweet orange, grapefruit, hard lemon candies and spicy pine. Lightly juicy, toggles back and forth between sweet and bitter. Finishes with grapefruit juice and lemon-scented dish soap. Which isn't as bad as it sounds.
Feel is smooth and juicy, soapy-slick, medium-light bodied and brightly carbonated.
Overall, a decent enough little IPA - I say 'little' but I just looked at the abv which claims to be north of 7% and I sure wouldn't have guessed more than 5.5%. The commercial description also promises 'huge dank,' and I don't know where they got that from, but it was a light and enjoyable, easy drinking beverage and I'd certainly have it again.
