Cloudy light golden color with a 4F head in a Spielgelau IPA glass.
Strawberry, vanilla aroma.
Very smooth milkshake MF.
Prominent strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, berry taste. It’s like drinking a vanilla fruit milkshake in a.beer.
Excellent beer.

Drank from a 16 oz can purchased at Craft Beer Cellar, Belmont, MA
Served in a tulip
The first half of the liquid in the can poured quite clear, but the second half was cloudy and turbid. Pale yellow ochre in appearance. The body was topped by an inch-tall, tight and fluffy, bright white crown that slowly fell to a foamy collar. Drippy swaths of lacing stuck along the glass.
The aroma was really unique. Hoppy and bright with a big sour, citrusy quality. Lime dominated. Some lemon came through as well. Milky lactose-like notes were also apparent. Moderately sweet. Hint of strawberry. The strawberry notes intensified as the beer warmed.
The flavor profile pretty much mimicked the nose. Hoppy and quite juicy with a crisp, citrusy tartness. Again, lime was most apparent. Moderate amount of lemon too. There was a noticeable lactose-like milkiness as well. Touch of vanilla. Fairly sweet overall. More bright lemony hop notes on the back end and in the finish. A nice bitter-sweet, citrusy tartness lingered after the swallow.
Terrific creamy, fluffy, smooth mouthfeel. Medium bodied for the style. The liquid contained a crisp, larger bubbled, tongue blanketing effervescence that frothed up beautifully on the palate.
Night Shift Shakedown is an interesting milkshake-style IPA that reminds me of the type of beers that breweries like Tired Hands and Hudson Valley have made popular in recent years. While the adjuncts in this sound really crazy, I found them to be surprisingly subtle (a bit too subtle perhaps), and the beer to be far more drinkable than I anticipated. I look forward to seeing what new iterations of this style Night Shift release next.

Pours a golden-yellow hue with a frothy head into my glass. Mango, passionfruit and orange peel. Frothy, creamy, decadent citrus undercurrent. Strawberry and light cocoa notes. It's almost as if this were meant to be an alternative to a typical dessert beer. I've had the previous Shakedown which was marvelous in its' own right. This blows it right out of the water. World class.

Brilliant interplay between the adjuncts and the Barbe Rouge hops, which compliment the strawberry flavors, and the Hallertau Blanc hops, which add an earthy and zesty hop balance to the sweetness of the strawberry, and cacao.
Highly recommend

not that im crazy about this style anymore but the standard in strange milkshake IPAs for me has been set by tired hands and other half. 4Q is worthy of standing with these breweries with their recent shakedown series.
this beer is very strange so im sure opinions will be mixed but for me its executed brilliantly and is one of the most 'milkshakey' beers ive ever tasted. up front the flavor sort of reminds me of their strawberry shakedown, there is a lush strawberry cream and jammy quality, sort of an almost perfumey floral strawberry quality, but then comes a thick and silky vanilla flavor comes into play, making this one much sweeter than the previous 4Q shakes. the vanilla flavor is wildly pungent and natural tasting, fantastic! chocolate flavor shows up later on the palate, complementing the aforementioned flavors beautifully. the clarity with which both vanilla and chocolate come through, paired with the overall creamyness of this beer, somehow manages to vividly invoke an ice cream flavor. how!!! there is some sharp pithy grapefruit and herbaceous quality, a mellow spice and overall sweetness and cereal malt flavor reminiscent of fruity pebbles. these guys do not fuck around and while they brew some strange shit (which i love) their execution is unparalleled. giving this one a boost on overall for the flawless execution.
