Can to tulip.
The appearance was a fabulous looking dark brown close to black color in my glass. Mellow cap of eggshell white foamy head. Fell off to a concave lace.
The aroma smelled initially like banana runts (the sugary candy) but did bring in subtle contours of roasted coffee, dark toast, chocolate nibs and fudgey breadiness.
The flavor seemed to lose the "banana runt"-like taste and seemed more of a blend of tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, small tone of coconut and an even lighter hint of papaya. Mild aftertaste blending roasted coffee beans, cocoa powder, toasted dark nuts to some bananas, pineapples and coconut.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Good carbonation with some dryness but a semi-sticky chocolatey tone just before it finishes with some fudgey tones.
Overall, I'd say a pretty nicely done American imperial stout but as a Foreign/Export there seems to be just a touch too much "American ingenuity" blocking the foreign/export qualities to come out.
