16 oz. can.
Canned 11/19/19.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a one inch tan head over a brown-edged near black body with lacing. Nose of chocolate malt and orange with a bit of herbal/floral thing going on as well. Taste mirrors nose very nicely with the malt smoothing out the hop bitterness, just how I like it! As it warms a bit of coffee comes forward. Feel is just tad thin, but this is still a more than solid Black IPA. Cheers for a winner from Winooski, VT!!

Imperial black IPA, yup, and so this was poured into a tulip.
The appearance, well, the pour was more of a muddy brown color with a darker almost black color in the glass. Mild semi-sticky lace after a small cap of eggshell white foamy head slid off.
The aroma had a fabulous blend of dark roasted malts, some coffee beans in there with dark toast and dark chocolate. But a superb hoppy citrusy to grassy character strolls in over for even more balance.
The flavor leads with the hoppy citrusy bittersweetness playing nicely with some roast, dark toast and coffee grounds/beans. Mainly a nice citrusy hoppy to semi-piney and roasty aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about due to the style, yes, to me, most black IPA's have that long-in-the-tooth brush of harshness scraping my tongue just like in days of old. Finishes with some scraping pine, citrus and roast.
Overall, now that's a black IPA! And done by an East coast brewer! Oh hells to the yeahs! This really put me in my happy place.
